Saving Rufus (A Cold Blair Drabble)

By Red Soprano

Honesty is the best policy.

Naomi thought she'd done the right thing when she told Blair that Rufus had gone into the woods to find his family. She was certain a good mother would never tell a five year old the truth--his little pet rabbit had died.

How could she have anticipated the child's reaction when a winter storm blew in that same night. How could she know that her kindhearted son would venture out into the freezing cold, thoughtfully leaving her this note in his childish scrawl:

"Mom. Gone bring Rufus an his fambly home were its worm."
